From January to June, only eight operations took place, as against ten in the first half last year. The reasons, according to KPMG, were the slowdown in China&rsquo;s economy, variations in ores&rsquo; prices, and the fact that the industry is awaiting modifications in the national regulatory framework. In all of 2012 23 transactions took place. <\/p>\n<p>Of the eight deals carried out in 2013, two were domestic, involving Brazilian-based companies only. Three other deals involved foreign-capital companies acquiring Brazilian companies from Brazilians. The remaining three deals consisted of foreign companies acquiring Brazilian-based companies from foreigners.
