The amount is up 0.5% from July 2012, and up 2.9% from June 2013, according to figures released this Wednesday (28th) by the Brazilian Machinery and Equipment Industry Association (Abimaq).<\/p>\n<p>According to the Abimaq, the result confirms the upward trend in foreign sales, which have accounted for 31% of the industry&rsquo;s revenues. According to the association, the percentage is near the all-time-high, which was one third. <\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date through July, however, exports stood at US$ 6.648 billion, down 11.6% from the same period last year. The main markets for Brazilian products during the period were Latin America, United States and Europe. Sales to the three regions declined. Exports to the Mercosur countries were up 16.4% to slightly over US$ 1 billion.<\/p>\n<p>On the other hand, Brazilian capital goods imports stood at US$ 19.027 billion year-to-date through July, up 7% from the same period last year. The leading exporters were United States, China, Germany and Italy. Chinese machinery is increasingly gaining space on the Brazilian market. The industry&rsquo;s trade balance has accumulated a US$ 12.379 billion deficit from January through July. <\/p>\n<p>Total industry revenues amounted to R$ 44.516 billion (US$ 18.652 billion) year-to-date through July 2013, down 7.7% from the same period in 2012, according to Abimaq.
