According to an IBGE survey, the country has an additional 7,085,828 inhabitants as against July 2012 figures. The data have been released today (29th) in the Official Gazette. <\/p>\n<p>S&atilde;o Paulo is the most populated state with 43.6 million inhabitants, followed by Minas Gerais with 20.5 million residents, and Rio de Janeiro, with 16.3 million people.<\/p>\n<p>The state of Bahia has 15 million inhabitants, Rio Grande do Sul has 11.1 million and Paran&aacute; has 10.9 million. Next come Pernambuco, with 9.21 million, Cear&aacute;, with 8.78 million, Par&aacute;, with 7.97 million, Maranh&atilde;o, with 6.79 million, Santa Catarina, with 6.63 million, and Goi&aacute;s, with 6.43 million.<\/p>\n<p>States with less than 5 million inhabitants are Para&iacute;ba (3.91 million), Esp&iacute;rito Santo (3.84 million), Amazonas (3.81 million), Rio Grande do Norte (3.37 million), Alagoas (3.3 million), Piau&iacute; (3.18 million), Mato Grosso (3.18 million), Distrito Federal (2.79 million), Mato Grosso do Sul (2.59 million), Sergipe (2.19 million), Rond&ocirc;nia (1.73 million) e Tocantins (1,48 million).<\/p>\n<p>In Brazil&rsquo;s Northern Region there are three states with less than 1 million inhabitants each. Roraima is the least populated state, with 488,000 inhabitants.
