According to the Brazilian Coffee Exporters Council (Cecafé), sales to the region generated US$ 143 million in revenues from January through August, up 6.3% from the same period last year.

The volume shipped was 872,000 60 kg bags, up 31% using the same basis of comparison. Recently, the Cecafé CEO Guilherme Braga told ANBA Arab countries are purchasing more coffee direct from Brazil, rather than via intermediaries.

Total Brazilian coffee exports amounted to US$ 3.47 billion, down 15.2% from January through August 2012. The volume shipped, however, was up 13.3% to nearly 20 million bags.

The scenario points to a sharp depreciation of the product. The average price of one bag was down by more than 25% August-on-August.

In a press release, Braga has said “the decline in the grain’s sale price is harming growers.” In August alone, export revenues were down 26.5% to US$ 388.6 million, and the volume shipped was down 1.6% to 2.56 million bags.

*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

Press Release/Embrapa

Revenues from Brazilian exports to the region stood at US$ 143 million from January through August this year, up 6.3% from the same period in 2012.

[102

0":"post-45814","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-agribusiness
Revenues from Brazilian exports to the region stood at US$ 143 million from January through August this year, up 6.3% from the same period in 2012.
["GET
