The city overtook Paraupebas, in the state of Par&aacute;, which remained atop the ranking up until July. The state of S&atilde;o Paulo posted US$ 6.13 billion in export revenues year-to-date through August. August-only exports helped the performance, at US$ 929 million, as against US$ 815.9 million in August last year, and US$ 767.6 million in July.<\/p>\n<p>The municipality of S&atilde;o Paulo exported mostly soy. The product garnered US$ 1.4 billion in export revenues, 24% of total revenues, followed by sugar at US$ 1.1 billion, and other products exported at lesser volumes, such as chemical wood paste, maize, ethyl alcohol, coffee, soy oil residue, meats, wood pulp nitrates, chemical preparations, drill bits, and gold rebar and thread. <\/p>\n<p>The leading buyer of products exported from the state of S&atilde;o Paulo exterior is China, which accounted for 25% of revenues from foreign sales from January through August, at US$ 1.5 billion. Next on the list were the United States, at U$ 585 million, the Netherlands, at US$ 445.6 million, Argentina, at US$ 191 million, and other countries such as Nigeria, Japan, Venezuela and Saudi Arabia.<\/p>\n<p>Following S&atilde;o Paulo and Paraupebas, which posted US$ 6 billion in export revenues, other top exporting municipalities were Santos, on the coast of the state of S&atilde;o Paulo, at US$ 4.3 billion, the city of Rio de Janeiro, at US$ 3.9 billion, and Paranagu&aacute;, in the state of Paran&aacute;, at US$ 3.3 billion. Year-to-date through August, the top importing municipalities were Manaus, in the state of Amazonas, S&atilde;o Sebasti&atilde;o, also in S&atilde;o Paulo, and the cities of S&atilde;o Paulo and Rio de Janeiro.
