According to the results released last Wednesday (25th) by the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade, trading companies operating in Brazil exported US$ 15.664 billion worth of product through August, a figure equivalent to 10% of total exports from Brazil. Year-to-date through August 2012, trading companies&rsquo; exports stood at US$ 16.371 billion.<\/p>\n<p>According to the ministry, the main items sold by trading companies were iron ore, soybean, maize, soya bran, and poultry. The leading buyers were China, Japan, the Netherlands, south Korea and Germany. <\/p>\n<p>During the same period, trading companies&rsquo; imports amounted to US$ 2.730 billion, down 19.6% from 2012. The main import items were automobiles, mobile telephony broadcasters and receivers, tyres, land-levelling machinery and equipment, and automatic data processing machinery.
