The project should cost approximately US$ 545 million, and is part of the emirate&rsquo;s recovery plan from the financial crisis it experience in 2009 and 2010. <\/p>\n<p>The canal will span three kilometres, including shops, entertainment centres, 450 restaurants, marinas for yachts and four luxury hotels. The development should be completed by 2017.<\/p>\n<p>The project also includes the building of high-end villas, bicycle lanes and pedestrian bridges.
