The highest increases in production took place in Paran&aacute; (3.6%), Goi&aacute;s (1.7%) and Santa Catarina (1.6%).<\/p>\n<p>Output also increased in the states of Cear&aacute; (1%), S&atilde;o Paulo (0.6%), Minas Gerais (0.3%) and Rio Grande do Sul (0.2%).<\/p>\n<p>Of the seven states where output was down, Bahia saw the sharpest decline (-8.6%), due to the power outage in August in the Brazilian Northeast. Output was down 2.2% in the Northeast as a whole. Industrial output was also down in the states of Rio de Janeiro (-4.2%), Par&aacute; (-1.6%), Esp&iacute;rito Santo (-1.4%), Pernambuco (-0.8%) and Amazonas (-0.7%).<\/p>\n<p>August-on-August, output was down in nine out of 14 states, highlighting Esp&iacute;rito Santo (-5.9%), Minas Gerais (-4.5%), Rio de Janeiro (-3.9%), S&atilde;o Paulo (-3.4%) and Amazonas (-3.2%); in all of these, the rate of decline was higher than the national average of 1.2%. <\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date, 11 of the 14 states saw increases in production; in the last 12 month period ended August, output was up in eight out of 14 states. <\/p>\n<p><strong>*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum<br \/><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The sharpest increases took place in the states of Paran\u00e1, Goi\u00e1s and Santa Catarina from July to August.
