Year-to-date through September, the throughput stood at 85.7 million tonnes, up 11.6% from the same period in 2012.<\/p>\n<p><!--[{![cemb_9_700732_2]!}]--><\/p>\n<p>According to the S&atilde;o Paulo State Ports Authority Codesp, throughput should be up approximately 7.1% this year, exceeding 112 million tonnes.<\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date through September, export-related shipping was up 14.9% to 60.5 million tonnes. The main items shipped include sugar, ethanol, coffee bean, meat, soy bean, bran and oil, and maize. Imports amounted to 25.2 million tonnes, up 4.4%. The main import items were iron ore, liquefied petroleum gas and coal. <\/p>\n<p>Products shipped abroad from the port accounted for 26.5% of Brazil&rsquo;s total exports (US$ 47 billion) and products arriving at the port accounted for 25.4% of total imports (US$ 45.5 billion). China was the leading export target at the port (15.7%). The United States answered to 9.3% of the total volume shipped from the Port of Santos. Argentina ranked third at 6.3%.<\/p>\n<p>China was also the leading exporter of products to the Port, at 16%.
