São Paulo – This month, the cities of Brasília and São Paulo should receive the Algerian Week in Brazil. The event should take place from the 16th to the 25th, in Brazilian capital city Brasília and from the 25th to the 28th in the city of São Paulo, with photography exhibits and music presentations.<\/p>\n

“The objective is to show Algerian culture. This is the first exhibition of the kind and we are organizing it in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the independence [of Algeria],” explained Djamel Bennaoum, the ambassador of Algeria in Brasília. The event is organized by the embassy and by the Ministry of Culture of Algeria, with the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n Bennaoum says that the exhibition takes place in Brazil due to the cooperation and friendship ties between both countries. “They are for the Brazilian audience to learn a little about the culture of Algeria. We chose Brasília as it is the federal capital, and São Paulo as it is greatly interested in culture,” he said.<\/p>\n The week will be opened in Brasília with exhibition “Algeria in images”, at the National Theatre. “The photography exhibition shows the work of top Algerian photographers showing some of the natural and tourist treasures of Algeria,” said the ambassador. Those visiting the fair will be able to see images made by Ryad Guelmaoui, Samir Abchiche and Nadia Feroukhi.<\/p>\n On the 20th and 21st, those in Brasília may view presentations by Anissa Bensalah, Djmawi Africa and El Ferda. The highlight of these presentations is singer Anissa, whose mother is Brazilian. “She sings in Arabic and Portuguese,” said Bennaoum. “The other groups are widely known [in Algeria]. They have an African dance rhythm that should please Brazilian audiences,” he said.<\/p>\n In São Paulo, the image exhibition and the shows take place at Club Homs, on Avenida Paulista. The music presentations should take place on the 26th and 27th.
