To this end, the government of Oman is even willing to offer scholarships to people interested in studying. Shaibani met with the Brazilian vice president Michel Temer at his official residence in Bras&iacute;lia, the Jaburu Palace. Apart from the possibility of sponsoring Arabic teaching to Brazilians, they discussed avenues to increasing bilateral relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Shaibani said Oman may encourage the learning of Arabic in Brazil &ldquo;by offering scholarships.&rdquo; Temer approved of the idea, and said &ldquo;the knowledge of language is a transformative factor.&rdquo; He also said Brazil has &ldquo;vast&rdquo; plans for cultural, educational and scientific development in tandem with Oman, according to information released by the vice president&rsquo;s office. <\/p>\n<p>The minister had already told ANBA last Monday (25th) that one of the reasons for her trip to Brazil was witnessing the myriad educational programs developed in the country.<\/p>\n<p>Shaibani has been in Brazil since last Friday (22nd) to keep appointments and attend events. On Sunday, she and Temer attended the opening of the World Science Forum, in Rio de Janeiro, during which the Omani minister awarded the Sultan Qaboos Prize for Environmental Preservation to two organizations, one from Poland and another from South Africa. The prize is granted in partnership with the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (Unesco).<\/p>\n<p>On Monday (25th), a team of technicians from the minister&rsquo;s delegation visited the Higher Education Institute in Rio de Janeiro (Iserj), which belongs to the Rio de Janeiro Technical School Support Foundation (Faetec). Also on Monday (25th), the delegation travelled to the Brazilian capital Bras&iacute;lia.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to meeting with the vice president this Tuesday morning, Shaibani was scheduled to pay a visit to a unit of the National Industrial Apprenticeship Service (Senai). This week, she should also meet with delegates of the Enterprise-School Integration Centre (CIEE). Delegation members should also visit the headquarters of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPQ).
