São Paulo – Saudi Gulf Airlines, airline recently founded in Saudi Arabia, signed this Thursday (16) an agreement for the purchase of 16 CS300 jets from the Canadian Bombardier, at the trade fair Bahrain Airshow. The contract also foresees a purchase option for another ten aircrafts, totalizing the sales at US$ 2 billion, if all 26 airplanes are delivered.<\/p>\n
“This is a time of enthusiasm for the aviation industry in the Arab countries and neighboring regions, particularly when you consider that more than 54 million passengers passed by the 27 airports in Saudi Arabia last year,” said sheik Tariq Al Qahtani, president of Saudi Gulf Airlines, during the event’s opening ceremony, according to the Bahrain News Agency. <\/p>\n
“We are excited with the adaptation of the C series airplanes for this market and the long term success it will bring to the region. With bold design, modern technology and competitive costs, the C series jets will give us the opportunity of introducing a new premium airline and a sustainable business model in Saudi Arabia, that serves the domestic, Gulf and Middle East markets,” emphasized Al Qahtani. <\/p>\n
Based at the King Fahd International Airport, in Dammam, Saudi Gulf Airlines will operate domestic and international flights from different airports in Saudi Arabia. The airline’s international routes focus on the main capital cities of the Middle East and also in India. <\/p>\n
