The total cargo volume stood at 34.9 million tonnes. The information was released by the <em>Tangier Mediterranean Special Agency<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>Container traffic exceeded 26.15 million tonnes, up 61% from 2012. Cargo handling in TEU, a unit equivalent to one 20-foot container, was 2.5 million TEU, up 40% from 2012.<\/p>\n<p>At the French automaker Renault&rsquo;s exclusive vehicle terminal, throughput was up 81% from 2012. The terminal handled 181,500 vehicles last year, 93,700 of which were made at Morocco&rsquo;s Mellousa plant and then shipped abroad, while another 35,000 were inbound. <\/p>\n<p>The port&rsquo;s hydrocarbon terminal handled 4.1 million tonnes, out of which 2.05 million went to fuelling ships at the port itself. <\/p>\n<p>The port handled 198,000 trucks, up 11% from 2012.
