The capital of Brazil was selected this Wednesday (26th) in Gyeongju, South Korea, by the World Water Council, which organized the forum. According to information from the Federal District government, the city had 23 votes, Copenhagen had 10 and 3 people abstained. <\/p>\n<p>Bras&iacute;lia will host the forum&rsquo;s eighth edition; the seventh will take place in 2015 in Daegu, South Korea. According to a communiqu&eacute; from the council, the event&rsquo;s goal is placing water at the top of the global agenda. The forum is held every three years and is attended by international organizations, political leaders, civil society representatives, scientists, and water industry professionals. <\/p>\n<p>They discuss ways to better use and conserve water, trends, needs, and how to go about making fresh water available to all people. <\/p>\n<p>According to the government of the Brazilian Federal District, the last edition of the forum took place in Marseille, France, and had 35,000 participants. For the next edition, 40,000 are expected.
