São Paulo – Brazilian agribusiness exports rose by 3.7% in March over the same month last year, according to information released by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA, in the Portuguese acronym) this Tuesday (8th). Revenues from shipments reached US$ 7.97 billion last month.<\/p>\n
The soy bean, oil and bran group was responsible for almost half the foreign trade revenues, at US$ 3.62 billion. Over seven million tonnes of soy and soy products were exported. Soybeans had sales of US$ 3.15 billion, with growth of 64.8% over the same month in 2013. Soy bran grossed US$ 363 million, up 17.1%, and soy oil generated US$ 114 million, down 26.6%.<\/p>\n
Asia stood out as a destination for the products. The continent imported the equivalent to US$ 4.08 billion, up 29.8%. Thus, the region is now responsible for 51.2% of total Brazilian agribusiness exports. By country, the main destination was China. The Chinese imported US$ 2.88 billion, up 65.5% over the same period in 2013. As for values, purchases increased by US$ 1.14 billion.<\/p>\n
In twelve months <\/strong><\/p>\n In the past twelve months, between April 2013 and March 2014, the agribusiness had exports of US$ 99.63 billion. There has been an increase of 2.7% over the previous 12 months. In the period, soy bean, bran and oil, especially soy bean, accounted for a big part of the revenue, US$ 33.20 billion. Sales of soy products increased by 33.1%.<\/p>\n Agribusiness imports amounted to US$ 1.42 billion in March and dropped by 7% over the same month last year.
