The information was supplied by the local ports authority. <\/p>\n<p>Compared with quarter four last year, container throughput was up 5%. <\/p>\n<p>According to the port&rsquo;s managing authority, the growth was due to the addition of new routes in quarter one, 2014, including the port of Gua&iacute;ra, in the Brazilian state of Paran&aacute;, and facilities in Djibouti, Gabon and Panama.<\/p>\n<p>Automaker Renault&rsquo;s dedicated car terminal handled 43,700 vehicles, 32,200 of which were made at the Mellousa plant, in Morocco, up 68% from quarter one, 2013.<\/p>\n<p>On its 10th year in operation, the port&rsquo;s common vehicle terminal handled 7,200 units in quarter one, up 32% from quarter one, 2013. <\/p>\n<p>Imports and exports using trucks coupled with ferry boats were up 16% in quarter one, 2014 from quarter one, 2013. <\/p>\n<p>Passenger and privately-owned vehicle throughput was down 3% and 7%, respectively, quarter one on quarter one. <\/p>\n<p><strong>*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum<\/strong><\/p>\n<div class=\"credits-overlay\" data-target=\".wp-image-183495\">TMSA<\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The port complex in Morocco handled 735,000 containers in quarter one.
