According to information released by news agency <em>Petra<\/em>, the funds are intended to help the Jordanian government manage its debt, improve management of public finances, promote more prudential government spending, and foster private sector growth.<\/p>\n<p>The agreement was signed by Jordan&rsquo;s minister of Planning and international Cooperation, Ibrahim Saif, and the World Bank&rsquo;s vice president for the Middle East and North Africa, Inger Andersen, in Washington, DC. The executive lauded the progress made by Jordan in various sectors of its economy, and its efforts in welcoming Syrian refugees despite its financial struggles.
