Auchan is known by their hypermarkets and it is the 11th largest food retail chain in the world, according to the company&rsquo;s website.<\/p>\n<p>By the end of 2013, the company had 774 hypermarkets, 817 supermarkets and 362 shopping malls. Besides retail and malls, the group also operates in other fronts, real states and banks. Bank Accord, owned by the holding, had 7.6 million accountholders by the end of last year.<\/p>\n<p>The Auchan group was created in 1961 and is present in 15 countries, mainly in Europe and Asia: France, Spain, Italy, Portugal, Luxemburg, Poland, Hungary, Russia, Romania, Ukraine, China, Taiwan, India, Tunisia and Senegal. The group&rsquo;s revenue reached 62.1 billion euro in December 31st 2013 and the number of jobs generated worldwide was 302.500 at the same date.<\/p>\n<p>According to <em>Panapress<\/em>, the opening of these establishments is a signal of the resumption of investment in the Arab country and will help boost Tunisian economy, which is recovering from a crisis sparked by the social protests which resulted in the impeachment of ex-president Zine El Abdine Ben Ali, three years ago.
