São Paulo – Brazilian exports of vehicles dropped by 30.4% in April over the same period last year, according to information released this Friday (9th) by the National Association of Motor Vehicles Manufacturers (Anfavea). A total of 36,700 vehicles were shipped abroad by the national industry last month. In April last year, the total was 52,700. The figures comprise light vehicles, trucks and buses. There was a decrease in the three segments, but the drop in light vehicles greatly affected the result.<\/p>\n

From January through April there was also a drop in vehicle export, down 31.9%. While in the first four months last year a total of 164,200 were shipped abroad by Brazil, in the first four months this year 111,900 units were shipped. The decrease in sales was larger for light vehicles, 33.7%, and smaller for buses, 13.5%. Truck exports increased by 5.9% in the period.<\/p>\n
Brazilian production has also dropped in April and year-to-date. Last month the national industry produced 21.4% less vehicles than in April 2013, from 352,300 to 277,000 units. In the four months, the drop was 12%, from 1.2 million vehicles manufactured from January through April 2013 and 1.06 million in the same months this year. There was an increase from March to April, of 1.6%. Exports also increased in the comparison between these two months, by 55.7%.<\/p>\n
Total licensing of new vehicles in Brazil, including imported and national ones, increased by 21.8% from March to April, decreased by 12.1% in the last month over April last year and 5% in year-to-date over the first four months in 2013. In the last four months, 1.1 million vehicles were licensed in the Brazilian market, in April alone, 293,200 vehicles were licensed, according to information from Anfavea.<\/p>\n
