The opening of the World Cup will be on June 12th, in S&atilde;o Paulo&rsquo;s capital. These visitors are estimated to leave R$ 706.5 million (around US$ 318 million) in the country. The survey points out that 3.7 million people, among Brazilians and foreigners, will be in transit in Brazil during the period of the matches, generating revenue of R$ 6.7 billion (or roughly US$ 3 billion).<\/p>\n<p>According to the survey, 80% of the tourists should visit, in average, more than three different destinations. Considering only the ones who are travelling for the Cup events &ndash; which include the matches and Fan Fest (Fifa&rsquo;s parties in the host cities), the total amounts to 1.9 million people, spending a combined R$ 4.05 billion (or US$ 1.82 billion). The remaining visitors (1.8 million) which will be in the country during the World Cup should spend R$ 2.64 billion (or US$ 1.19 billion).<\/p>\n<p>The 300,000 or so visitors who will travel to Brazil specifically for the World Cup will account for the bulk of spending.
