São Paulo – Company Rotta Móveis, from Santa Catarina, Brazil, wants to expand the list of export destinations in the Arab world. The manufacturer already exports to the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Saudi Arabia and sees potential to enter four other Middle Eastern nation’s markets.<\/p>\n

“Qatar, Oman, Jordan and Bahrain are interesting countries in terms of per capita income and types of furniture (sold there),” explains Diorani Ferraz, commercial manager. The company only manufactures solid wood furniture, which pleases the Arab consumer, according to the businessman.<\/p>\n
The company has been selling to Arab countries since 2011 and this year it has taken part for the first time in the Index (International Design Exhibition), furniture and décor fair which was held in May, in Dubai.<\/p>\n
“There are a lot of people from the entire region, from the Emirates, Jordan, Palestine, North Africa. We met clients with interesting potential,” said Ferraz. Rotta mostly produces bedroom furniture, such as beds, wardrobes, chests, mirrors and nightstands, but they also manufacture living room pieces such as television racks.<\/p>\n
All of the production from Rotta Móveis is designed for foreign sales. Of the total of furniture the company produces, 75% goes to the United States and the rest is exported to countries in the Caribbean region, Central America, Africa and Middle East.<\/p>\n
Arab countries account for roughly 5% of the company’s sales, but Ferraz believes these figures may grow. “There is potential, but it is a market that needs to be worked on. It demands a lot of trips, it is an extensive long-term work,” said Ferraz.<\/p>\n
The manager does not disclose the company’s current production, but says they are going through an expansion of the installed capacity and, this year, the furniture production should increase from 15% to 18%.<\/p>\n
Headquartered in the city of Caçador, Rotta Móveis was founded in 1972 and has 400 employees.<\/p>\n
