The information was released by local newspaper Al Ahram.

According to the newspaper, Sherif Ismail, the Egyptian Oil minister, has said output should increase as several new gas fields should enter into operation in the next six months.

The Dakka fields will become a part of the country’s production network in July, adding 5.663 million cubic metres of gas per day. In August, the Sapphire and Libra fields will add another 2.831 million cubic metres of gas per day, and the same volume should be added by the Karam and Assel fields combined, and by the Dosouk field alone.

The newspaper notes that Egypt has undergone a serious energy crisis in the past three years, with frequent power outages. According to the publication, several government officials have ascribed the power cuts to growing fuel subsidies and declining gas production.

Natural gas consumption, according to Al Ahram, should be up 12.5% to 157.724 million cubic metres per day in the 2014/2015 fiscal year, compared with the preceding fiscal year.

*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

Press Release

Sherif Ismail, the country’s Oil minister, has announced that output is expected to increase by over 14 million cubic metres per day.

[91

0":"post-48183","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","5":"has-post-thumbnail","7":"category-economy
Sherif Ismail, the country’s Oil minister, has announced that output is expected to increase by over 14 million cubic metres per day.
["GET
