São Paulo – From June 25th to 27th, the city of São Paulo will host the exhibition Tolerance, Understanding and Coexistence – Oman’s message about Islam<\/em> (Tolerância, Entendimento, Coexistência – A mensagem de Omã sobre o Islã, in Portuguese), which will be held in Club Homs. The exhibit brings pictures and a film about the topic. <\/p>\n

The event is an initiative of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs of the Sultanate of Oman, organized by the Arab country’s embassy in Brasília and supported by the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

“It is an international exhibition. It is very important to see the role of religion in life. If you look at the wars in the Arab world today, they are not related to religion,” says Khalid Salim Al Jaradi, Omani ambassador in Brazil. He says the exhibition has already been to 46 cities around the world.<\/p>\n

The ambassador points out that in Oman the Muslims are divided in three branches of Islam: Sunni, Shia and Ibadi. “They live together as brothers. They are a real example of life, that it is not necessary to fight,” he said, in reference to the coexistence of different religious branches.<\/p>\n

The exhibit has a total of 44 pictures and is divided in two parts. The first one shows the religious tolerance in Oman while the second brings modern life aspects in the Gulf country. The 30-minute long film deals with the issues of life in the country and the coexistence of Muslims with followers of other religions.<\/p>\n

According to Al Jaradi, the exhibit has already been to countries such as the United States, United Kingdom, Pakistan, Iran, Spain and Japan. In Brazil, after visiting the city of São Paulo, the event goes to Foz do Iguaçu, in Paraná, from June 30th to July 4th. As regards next year, the ambassador says, there are plans to bring the exhibition back to Brazil, but not to the cities of Rio de Janeiro, Santa Catarina and Espírito Santo.<\/p>\n
