São Paulo – A Tunisian short animation is scheduled for exhibition at the Anima Mundi festival 2014, which starts this Friday (25th), in Rio de Janeiro. The film, named Hoffili, is 13 minutes 22 seconds long, and is about an Anthropology doctoral student who decides to make a documentary out of his sister’s wedding as part of his thesis. But he shoots it with a small low-quality camera.<\/p>\n

The film was made by Lofti Mahfoudh. He holds an art degree from the Tunisia National Institute of Fine Arts and a degree in Image and Animation from the Ecole Nationale Superieure des Arts Decoratifs<\/em> in Paris. The founder of the production company One Thousand and One Images, he currently works in the production of animation in his home country’s capital, Tunis.<\/p>\n The short film is not competing at the festival’s contest, but it is part of the group of films which will be exhibited in different categories. Hoffili is in the group named International Panorama and will be shown, alongside other seven films, this Saturday (26th), at 4pm, at the Espaço Itaú de Cinema Botafogo. It will also be shown next Wednesday (30th), at the same place, at 3pm.<\/p>\n Anima Mundi will be held in Rio de Janeiro until August 3rd. Later on, from August 6th to 10th, the festival will move to the city of São Paulo. In São Paulo, the Tunisian animation will be shown at the Espaço Itaú de Cinema Augusta, on August 10th, Sunday, at 4.30pm. The screenings are not advisable for children under the age of 14.<\/p>\n Anima Mundi is currently the second largest animation festival in the world. The competitive part of the festival is divided into five categories, including short films and feature animation, made for children and for adults. There are several awards, including chosen by the audience, by a professional jury, special awards and a grand prize for short film. The non-competitive sessions are also divided into five categories.
