Combined, both measures can potentially make US$ 11.05 billion (or R$ 25 billion) available to banks.

According to information from the BC, one of the measures alters the rules regulating compulsory deposits, i.e. the amount of money the banks must keep deposited with the monetary authority and cannot use as loans. The alteration reduces the amount that must be held as reserve and can, according to the BC, inject US$ 4.423 billion (R$ 10 billion) in the economy.

The other measure reduces the required venture capital, i.e. the reserved sum of money banks need to keep in case of insolvency. The change applies to retail credit loans, regardless of deadline. This measure should inject US$ 6.635 billion (R$ 15 billion) in the economy. In July, the Central Bank had already relaxed the rules for compulsory deposits, an action designed to inject US$ 11.05 billion (R$ 25 billion) in Brazilian economy.

*Translated by Rodrigo Mendonça

Brazil’s monetary authority announced measures which should circulate roughly US$ 11.05 billion in the country’s economy.

[91

0":"post-48740","1":"post","2":"type-post","3":"status-publish","4":"format-standard","6":"category-economy
Brazil’s monetary authority announced measures which should circulate roughly US$ 11.05 billion in the country's economy.
["GET
