The surplus stood at US$ 3.5 billion.<\/p>\n<p>For the most part, the result was a consequence of financial operations, which comprise investment in bonds, profit and dividend remittances and foreign direct investment, which came to a total of US$ 2.6 billion. The surplus from export- and import-related exchange operations was US$ 960 million.<\/p>\n<p>Year-to-date through September 26th, Brazil posted a US$ 2.86 billion foreign exchange surplus.
