The organization ascribed the increase in default to the high inflation rate, more expensive lines of credit and shrinking economy.

The data released by the organization also show that in the twelve month period ended September the amount of overdue debts is 4.2% higher than in the previous equivalent period.

The Serasa Experian index, however, indicated that insolvency in September was down 0.8% from August, and that this is the second consecutive month insolvency has declined. The reason for this contraction, according to the consulting firm, is that consumers are not willing to incur new debts.

*Translated by Rodrigo Mendonça

Data from the Serasa Experian indicate a 19.6% growth in default when compared to September 2013.
