According to information released by the official news agency <em>Ag&ecirc;ncia Brasil<\/em>, the campaign will be carried out by the ministry&rsquo;s federal superintendencies in each state, in partnership with local veterinary service providers. <\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian herd comprises roughly 212 million heads of cattle, but the goal at this stage is to vaccinate 140 million heads in the states of Goi&aacute;s, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Minas Gerais, Rio de Janeiro, Rio Grande do Sul, Tocantins, Sergipe and the Federal District.<\/p>\n<p>Only animals up to 24 months old will be vaccinated. According to the ministry, younger animals are more susceptible to the disease because they have been given less vaccines.
