Brasília – Domestic air travel demand in Brazil was up 6.4% year-on-year in October, according to the Brazilian Airlines Association (Abear). The figure concerns revenue passenger kilometres for the airlines Avianca, Azul, TAM and Gol. These airlines carried a combined 7.3 million passengers last month. Flight capacity was up 2.6% and occupancy rates averaged at 80.8%, in line with international standards, according to Abear chairman Eduardo Sanovicz.<\/p>\n
Air travel demand for international destinations was up 3.5%, year-on-year in October. A total of 427,000 passengers travelled. International flight capacity was up 0.5% and occupancy stood at 85%. The Abear chairman is expecting smooth operations in the upcoming high season, from December this year until February 2015. “We had a rather interesting test during the World Cup. The results we achieved were not run-of-the-mill. [In high season] things tend to go even more smoothly than last year.”<\/p>\n
