São Paulo – One of the Gulf’s most well-known law firms wants to work with more Brazilian and Arab companies that wish to do business among them in the next few years. Clyde&Co’s line of work in Brazil focuses on international law and the firm wants to establish partnerships with companies that want to increase their market share abroad. <\/p>\n
One of Clyde&Co’s partners in Brazil, Stirling Leech says it can offer information and legal advice to these companies. “Every country has its own laws and rules and we have experience to help the companies operate under these rules”, says Leech.<\/p>\n
Last week, Clyde&Co became a member of the ArabBrazilian Chamber of Commerce<\/strong>. “We had been a member of another chamber and it was an interesting experience. It’s very opportune to be a Chamber’s member because we will be able to help the companies that are working with us in the regions we already have an office”, he says. The Brazilian branch of the company was founded in 1992 while the Dubai office started at the end of the 1980’s. As of right now, there are 116 lawyers working in its Dubai’s office and another 18 in Abu Dhabi.<\/p>\n Besides offering legal aid, Leech says that next year the office should organize an event in Brazil about business opportunities in the Arab countries. He told Brazil-Arab News Agency (ANBA) that Clyde&Co already offers its services to large Brazilian companies with international operations and that it also can work with medium and even small companies that are trying to go global. “And this can be through commerce or investments”, he says. The firm works on many fronts, such as partnership promotion, assets purchases and companies’ splitting and arbitration. <\/p>\n The attorney also notes that the interest to expand and gain market’s share doesn’t come only from Brazilian companies. “There are many Arab companies interested in Brazil. There are opportunities on both sides”, he says.<\/p>\n Clyde&Co was founded 90 years ago and has 40 offices, with more than 350 partners and two thousand lawyers.
