Unifil is the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon, whose maritime task force is commanded by Brazil since 2011. The exhibit will remain open to visitors until January 30th.<\/p>\n<p><!--[{![cemb_9_705988_2]!}]--><\/p>\n<p>The show features photos and objects from frigate Constitui&ccedil;&atilde;o, which is currently the flagship of Unifil&rsquo;s Maritime Task Force (Unifil-MTF). Visitors can also see the uniforms, medals and sailing objects of admiral Walter Eduardo Bombarda, the task force&rsquo;s commander. There is also a chronological showcase of Brazil&rsquo;s naval force from 1500 until our days. <\/p>\n<p>Unifil was established by the UN Security Council in March 1978 to ensure the withdrawal of Israel from Lebanon, restore peace and international security and assist the Lebanese government in regaining its authority in the region. <\/p>\n<p>The Unifil-MTF was formed by the UN in 2006, at the request of the Lebanese government. In that year, after the 2nd Lebanon War, Unifil had its mandate extended and received personnel reinforcements. <\/p>\n<p>Presently, the Unifil has 10,366 members from 37 countries, 265 of whom are Brazilian.
