According to CNI, this is the lowest score since January 1999, when records first started being kept. The poll ranges from zero to 100 points. Scores lower than 50 indicate lack of confidence.<\/p>\n<p>The index is down 0.8 point from 45.2 points in December 2014. Year-on-year in January, the score is down 8.7 points from 53.1. <\/p>\n<p>In January, confidence was the lowest among medium businesses, at 42.9 points. The Icei was 45.5 points for both the large and small businesses categories.<\/p>\n<p>Region-wise, the Brazilian Southeast had the lowest score at 40.8 points. The South was second-to-last at 42.8 points in January. The confidence score for Midwestern industrialists was 45.8 points. North and Northeast Brazil are the most optimistic regions at respectively 49.5 and 48.1 points.<\/p>\n<p>The CNI polled 2,707 businesses from January 5th to 15th.
