According to data released last Monday evening (10th) by the Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply, the industry grossed US$ 4.9 billion in export revenues last year. In February 2014, revenues had reached US$ 6.39 billion.

The ministry’s International Relations secretary Tatiana Palermo has said the decline in revenues owed itself to lower commodity prices. In a statement released by the ministry, she also said soybean exports have plummeted, particularly to China, and this also detracted from performance. Year-to-date through February, the agribusiness trade balance ran a US$ 8.1 million surplus.

*Translated by Gabriel Pomerancblum

The sector grossed US$ 4.9 billion from foreign sales last year.
