São Paulo – Inline Grades Móveis, a recently-created brand of injection-molded plastic railings, wants to export and is setting its sight on Dubai, the United Arab Emirates. “We started producing six months ago and compete with Spanish and Chinese companies that sell to 30-plus countries. Ours is an improved product and we want to reach other markets that already use [this type of material],” said the company’s CEO César Yoshizumi.<\/p>\n
The railings are attachable to one another and used for securing areas in wide-open spaces or to organize people standing in line. The company is interested in Dubai because it believes there are myriad places in the emirate where the product might be used, like airports, hotels, malls, trade shows and tourist attractions in general.<\/p>\n
“The place was entirely planned out for tourism,” Yoshizumi said. He plans to build long-term relationships leading up to World Expo 2020, which Dubai will host. “It is the world’s largest fair, and we want to put in the work beforehand,” he added. <\/p>\n
Inline is based in São Bernardo do Campo, the Greater Metropolitan Area of São Paulo, and was born from the merger of two other companies: the plastic injectors maker Tsong Cherng and the plastic flooring rental company Criadeck. Mobile plastic grids are not widespread in Brazil, where their metal counterparts prevail, according to Yoshizumi.<\/p>\n
According to the executive, with the World Cup 2014 being held in Brazil, the original idea was to import plastic grids and sell them for the event’s organization, but the costs with import taxes, freight and delivery time made the business not viable. They opted, then, to produce the good in Brazil. “To import would cost almost double of the price with which we sell them here”, he pointed out.<\/p>\n
The advantages in comparison to metal grids are the smaller weight, easy transportation, areas for ads placement, among others. Yoshizumi guarantees also that his product represents an improvement in comparison to foreign competition, such as anatomical design that allows one to carry a grid with only one arm, the possibility of placing temporary advertising banners and being 10% higher. According to him, it’s the largest piece of the field done with a one-piece plastic bloc.<\/p>\n
He emphasized that the product is selling well in the Brazilian market and that the production goes from 500 to 1,000 unities by batch, but the total produced monthly varies according to the available stock.<\/p>\n
