From July 29th to August 2nd, the exhibition takes place at Shopping Eldorado, in the city of São Paulo, and from August 5th to 10th at Rio Design Barra, in the city of Rio de Janeiro. The event has the support of the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce.

“The goal of this event is to increase the knowledge of the Brazilian people about Oman, so they [Brazilians] can see images of our country and its history. We want to present Oman in all aspects”, said Khalid Al Jaradi, Oman’s ambassador in Brasília.

In the two cities, the show will have exhibitions of photos, religious documents, art works, manuscripts, arts and crafts and fashion. There will be also a musical presentation, the attendance of a calligrapher and the presence of a woman who will draw temporary henna tattoos on the visitor’s hands.

“There are a lot of similarities between Oman and Brazil. For instance: the people in both places are very friendly, receive foreigners very well, are tolerant and respect people”, emphasizes Jaradi. For the diplomat, “the whole exhibition is very interesting”, but he believes that the calligrapher and the henna tattoos will be the attractions that will please the audience the most.

To draw the attention of Brazilians for the exhibition, the embassy will promote opening ceremonies in both capitals. The one in São Paulo will be on July 28th with Rio opening on August 4th. Both ceremonies will have drinks and typical musical representations and are admission free.

To promote its culture in Brazil, Oman’s government will send a delegation of 43 people to organize the event. The mission is headed by prince Fatek Bin Fahar Bin Timor Al Said, secretary-general of the Ministry of Heritage and Culture of the Sultanate of Oman.

Located in the Middle East, Oman has 309,500 square kilometers and a population of more than four million people. Oman is one of the member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, an economic bloc that also have as members Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, United Arab Emirates and Kuwait.

Service

São Paulo

Opening ceremony
July 28th, 7:30 PM
Teatro Sérgio Cardoso
Rua Rui Barbosa, 153 – Bela Vista

Cultural Days of Oman in Brazil Exhibition
July 29th to August 2nd
Shopping Eldorado
Av.
