São Paulo – Body-shaping lingerie of the São Paulo brand Plié have won over the women of the Arab world. The company has two distributors in Lebanon. One of them owns a lingerie retail chain and sends Plié’s products to other stores in the country. The second one does the distribution to Lebanese retail stores and also to other eleven Arab countries.<\/p>\n

“It operates in Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Bahrain, Egypt, Iraq, Jordan, Oman, Qatar, Syria, United Arab Emirates and Yemen”, says Elemar de Souza Cruz, Plié’s Exports and Marketing manager. According to her, the Arab world is the third largest buyer of the brand, behind Eastern Europe and South America.<\/p>\n

“We export our line of shapewear, seamless waistband, high waist panties, high waist shorts and a bra-less shoulder-strap body that they use together with the bra”, explains Cruz about the pieces exported to the Arabs. <\/p>\n

Sales to the region started through contacts made in international fairs. The first distributor in Lebanon, which operates only in the domestic market, started to work for the brand nine years ago, while the one that operates in the other Arab countries started to work with Plié four years ago. <\/p>\n

According to the executive, the Arab countries present a strong demand for beauty-oriented lingerie pieces, such as the ones manufactured by Plié. “Our body shaping line has two functions: to cover up excess fat and help in the beauty procedures, since the product acts like drainage”, she says. <\/p>\n

Plié’s pieces are manufactured using microfiber with Lycra. Cruz also emphasizes the importance of the clothing’s design. “Today, Brazil has been recognized already in the sector of seamless lingerie”, she says. <\/p>\n

Currently, Plié manufactures around 150,000 pieces per month. From this total, around 25 to 30% is sent abroad. Among the countries that import the most from the brand are Poland, Russia, Lebanon, Chile and Portugal. Besides body shaping lingerie, the brand also manufactures basic lingerie. <\/p>\n

Founded in 2000, Plié is based in the city of São Paulo.<\/p>\n
