São Paulo – Brazilian poultry exports was record-breaking in July, according to data released this Monday (3rd) by the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA). In the period, 447,200 tons of poultry were exported, a volume that includes cuts, whole chicken, processed, salted and sausage. There was an increase of 17.3% over the same month in 2014. <\/p>\n

Revenues in reais from the shipments were also record-breaking. Sales generated R$ 2.5 billion, an increase of 42.4% over July of last year. In dollars, however, revenues dropped 1.7% and stood at US$ 772.1 million. The dollar variation over the real was an important factor in revenue increase in reais. <\/p>\n

ABPA’s vice-president of Poultry, Ricardo Santin, celebrated the overcoming of the 400,000 tons shipped in the month mark and the revenues above US$ 700 million. “There had growth in practically every market, both in the comparison to the same period of last year and against the previous month. This indicates a positive trend for the second semester”, he said.<\/p>\n

Year-to-date up to July, 2.43 million tons of poultry were shipped, an increase of 4.5% over the seven first months of 2014. There was also a hike of 22% in revenues in reais, which reached R$ 12.7 billion. But in dollars there was a decline of 8% in revenues with US$ 4.2 billion.
