With the July increase, the IPCA, in the first seven months of the year, has increased 6.83%, above the 3.76% rate of the same period of 2014. It&rsquo;s the highest rate for the January to July period since 2003 (6.85%).<\/p>\n<p>The IPCA &ndash; surveyed by the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics (IBGE) &ndash; is the government&rsquo;s official indicator for the measurement of inflation targets. The index measures the variation of the cost of living of families with salaried workers and with a monthly income between one and 40 minimum wages.
