According to the EPE, an adverse economic scenario, increase in power prices, milder temperatures and decline of purchasing power all contributed to the results. Between January and July, the decline of electric energy consumption was of 1.4%. Year-to-July, the decline was of 0.2%.<\/p>\n<p>The steeper decline in the month was with home consumption (-5%), the highest in the last ten years, EPE reported. In the southeast region, reduction of energy consumption reached 7% in all states, with the highlight being Rio de Janeiro (-11%).
