Rio de Janeiro – The Brazilian minister of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade Armando Monteiro has said this Thursday (15th) that the country should post a trade surplus of over USD 15 billion in 2015 and double that amount next year, with exports exceeding imports by over USD 30 billion. <\/p>\n
Monteiro said manufactured goods exports to the United States have grown 5% this year, and the deficit in bilateral trade of finished goods is poised to decline in 2015. Last year saw a USD 100 billion-plus deficit that should drop to USD 80 billion this year. <\/p>\n
"The trade balance result points to a trend of rising exports and replacement of imports, an important development, particularly when it comes to the Brazilian industry,” he said during a plenary meeting of Conselho Empresarial da América Latina, the Latin American business council, taking place today and tomorrow in Rio de Janeiro.<\/p>\n
