The free zone was established by a decree in 2013 and targets the asset management, private banking, family offices and wealth management sectors.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;Today marks an important achievement in our journey to develop ADGM, an international financial centre in the heart of the capital of the United Arab Emirates, a centre of wealth and a gateway to the growing economies of the region and beyond,&rdquo; said ADGM chairman Ahmed Ali Al Sayegh in a press release.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;We have been steadfast in our strategy of building an IFC based on collaboration and input from local, regional and international institutions to ensure that we offer a jurisdiction that provides businesses with what they need and want in order to grow and succeed,&rdquo; the executive asserted. Companies of any nationality can operate from ADGM.<\/p>\n<p>The Financial Services Regulatory Authority CEO Richard Teng said, also according to the press release, that in the next few months the center will continue to engage financial institutions to help them understand the regulations, and assist them with the application process. <\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;As an international financial centre, we are dedicated to forging long term and mutually beneficial partnerships with like-minded members and market participants,&rdquo; Teng said.<\/p>\n<p>ADGM is set in the Al Maryah island, in an area spanning 180,000 square meters.
