São Paulo – The Algerian embassy in Brasília will be featured in the third edition of Feafro, a fair designed to promote exports and culture in African countries. The event will run from October 29th to 31st in São Paulo. <\/p>\n
“We will introduce Algeria’s major exporting companies such as Cevital, which sells to 28 countries, and Benamor, as well as olive oil exporters,” said Chafik Kellala, the first secretary of the Algerian embassy. <\/p>\n
The Cevital Group is active in several fields, including agroindustry, automotive services, glass production, mining, logistics and fertilizers. The Benamor Group deals in foodstuffs such as semolina and couscous. At the Algerian stand, visitors will have access to these companies’ product catalogs and import liaisons. <\/p>\n
According to Kellala, the fact that Algeria is taking part in this event is important, because his country “wants to strengthen economic and trade ties” with Brazil. “We also want to broaden the range of import\/export products,” the diplomat asserted.<\/p>\n
Besides the Algerian companies, the stand will feature typical dresses and handicraft, as well as photographs, in a bid to attract Brazilian tourists. <\/p>\n
“There are lots of Christian and Muslim landmarks in Algeria. Saint Augustine was born there, and tourists can visit his places of birth and death. You also have the churches of Our Lady of Africa and Our Lady of Salvation,” Kellala said.<\/p>\n
Apart from religious tourism, the diplomat mentioned attractions such as ancient ruins and the Sahara Desert. “Algeria is home to the biggest number of Roman ruins in North Africa, particularly in the city of Djémila. And then you have the Sahara Desert, where you can take camel rides,” he said. He claimed Algeria enjoys “political stability, with no security threats.”<\/p>\n
The event will also feature business matchmaking, forums and parades. Exhibitors will include footwear, food and beverage, clothing and coffee companies, among others. Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau, Mali, Tanzania and Zimbabwe will also have their own stands. Morocco is still considering whether to partner up with Moroccan cultural associations in São Paulo for the fair.<\/p>\n
