São Paulo – The creation, history and importance of the Palestinian State will be the topic of a lecture that Palestine’s ambassador in Brasília Ibrahim Alzeben will present next Saturday (14th) at São Paulo’s City Council. Alzeben’s lecture is part of an academic simulation called “Creation of the State of Palestine – recognitions and conflicts”. The event is organized by International Relations students of Paulista University (Unip).<\/p>\n

According to the president of Unip’s Institutional Council of the International Relations Students (Cieri), Rafael Aulicino, the college students will simulate a United Nations assembly discussing the creation of the Palestinian state. In the exercise, there will be delegations, represented by the students, of countries both in favor and contrary to the topic. Last year, the topic covered was the annexation of the Ukraine’s territory of Crimea by Russia.<\/p>\n

“We cover current International Relations issues that are controversial. This year, we picked the issue of Palestine because we have been following the conflicts and stalemates that affect the region”, said Aulicino.<\/p>\n

Alzeben told ANBA this Friday (6th) that he will be presenting the arguments in favor of the creation of a Palestinian state. “There’s a need for a Palestinian State, for ending the war and starting a peace process. To create a Palestinian state is a measure that will generate a stability factor in the region. The need to achieve a peace process does not depend on the current conflicts. Peace is needed”, said the diplomat. <\/p>\n

The simulation will be held from 9:30 AM to 5 PM. The ambassador will present his lecture at 10 AM, according to the event’s organization. The event is open to the general public and is free of charge.<\/p>\n
