These are the priorities of Ahmed Yousif Mohamed Elsiddig, the Sudanese ambassador in Brasília. Elsiddig visited this Monday (30th) the Arab Brazilian Chamber of Commerce in the city of São Paulo.

“From my position, I will work for good relations in the agriculture and food production sectors. I would also like to see delegations from Sudan coming to Brazil and from Brazil to Sudan. I hope many agreements will come out of these [missions]. We are working hard to have Brazilian companies operating in the agriculture sector in Sudan”, he declared to ANBA.

The diplomat was welcomed by Michel Alaby, CEO of the Arab Chamber; Osmar Chohfi, vice-president of International Relations; Ramez Goussous, senior adviser of International and Institutional Relations; and Tamer Mansour, manager of Government Relations of the organization.

Elsiddig, which took up his post officially in November 4th, with the presentation of his credentials to president Dilma Rousseff, highlighted the work done by the ambassador who preceded him, Abd Elghani Elkarim, in building a good relationship with Brazil. “My colleague, who preceded me, started this relationship, and now I’m working to continue promoting these relations in the trade and investments areas”, he said.

The new Sudanese ambassador also emphasized the importance of the work done by the Arab Chamber for the strengthening of ties between Brazil and the Middle East and North Africa countries. “The Chamber is a very important organization for all Arab countries. The Chamber is the main pillar in the relations between Brazil and the Arab world and, for Sudan, we believe strongly that, through our cooperation with the Chamber, we can have a good and strong relationship with Brazil”, he said.

Elsiddig started his diplomatic career in 1991, working in the Sudanese mission at the United Nations in New York. He also worked in Iraq and Saudi Arabia and held the post of ambassador in the United Arab Emirates. As ambassador in Brazil, he also holds the position of non-resident ambassador in Argentina, Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru.

*Translated by Sérgio Kakitani

Aurea Santos/ANBA

Ahmed Elsiddig, the Sudanese ambassador in Brasília, intends to strengthen cooperation, especially in the agriculture sector.
