{"id":53046,"date":"2016-01-08T20:11:00","date_gmt":"2016-01-08T22:11:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/escaesco.com.br\/lab\/anba\/eu-offers-100-million-euros-to-libya\/"},"modified":"2019-06-30T17:02:35","modified_gmt":"2019-06-30T20:02:35","slug":"eu-offers-100-million-euros-to-libya","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/anba.com.br\/en\/eu-offers-100-million-euros-to-libya\/","title":{"rendered":"EU offers 100 million euros to Libya"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>S&atilde;o Paulo &ndash; The European Union will provide 100 million euros in financial aid to Libya, the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, said this Friday (8) in Tunis, Tunisia, the African news agency <em>Panapress<\/em> reported.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Turkish news outlet <em>Anadolu<\/em>, the goal is to enhance humanitarian aid and support state-run institutions in Libya, which has been at civil war since the ousting and killing of dictator Muammar Gaddafi in 2011.<\/p>\n<p>The EU chief said the cash will be available as soon as the national unity government takes office. She spoke at a press conference alongside Fayez Al-Sarraj, who has been appointed prime minister of said government.<\/p>\n<p>The announcement occurs in a moment of violence upsurge in Libya. This Thursday, the explosion of a truck-bomb left at least 65 dead and more than 100 injured in the Libyan city of Zliten. In the same day, a suicide attack left seven more people dead in the oil port of Ras Lanuf. Both actions were claimed by the self-titled terrorist group Islamic State, according to information by British <em>BBC<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;The safety situation in Libya represents a greater challenge for the channeling of aid&rdquo;, said Mogherini. &ldquo;The Libyan people deserve peace, safety and stability. I think that there isn&rsquo;t a Libyan citizen that hasn&rsquo;t suffered with the war and conflict, and we hope that the political agreement will bring peace and stability needed to fight terrorism in the country&rdquo;, she added.<\/p>\n<p>For his part, Sarraj called on the Libyan people to unite to fight against terrorism and to build the Libyan state.
