Brasília – President Dilma Rousseff said this Friday (22nd) that she was “astonished” with the worsening of the forecasts made by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) for the Brazilian economy. During a meeting of the National Board of the political party PDT (Democratic Labor Party) in Brasília, she emphasized that the country will return to growth. The party is part of the government’s coalition.<\/p>\n
“I’m astonished with the International Monetary Fund report, we know that the Fund says a lot of things”, she said. This week, the IMF released a report with forecasts for the global economy. Concerning Brazil, the organization increased from 1% to 3.5% the estimate for the decline of the Gross Domestic Product (GDP).<\/p>\n
According to Dilma, the fund didn’t impute the critical situation of Brazil on the economy. “There were two factors: the duration of the political instability and the fact that the investigations against Petrobras are deeper and longer-lasting than they expected. These would be the main factors responsible by the fact that they had to review the position of the Monetary Fund concerning the growth of Brazil”, she declared.<\/p>\n
To Dilma, investments will come back to the country and Brazil will resume growing. “We have all the solid foundations to do this”, she assured, when adding that the process of social inclusion will not be interrupted and that education will continue to be the main topic of her term.<\/p>\n
“I am sure that we will politically stabilize the country, ensure to the country the tranquility to return to growth. In democracy, it’s absolutely normal for the opposition and anyone to criticize and express themselves. We can’t accept that crucial issues for the country are not the object of a joint action to guarantee that we return to create jobs and income. We will do our part”, she pointed out.<\/p>\n
