Brasília – This Wednesday (16), president Dilma Rousseff called “speculations” the possibility of changes in the economic team and the internal use of international reserves. <\/p>\n
“We, throughout these 13, almost 14 years, accumulated reserves. When Lula took over, our reserves were not enough to pay maturities and debts. We remained committed to our reserves”, said the president.<\/p>\n
Dilma talked with journalists this afternoon, at Palácio do Planalto, after naming Lula as chief of staff. The former president will replace Jaques Wagner, who was transferred for the Cabinet chief position.<\/p>\n
When denying the possibility of changes in economic policy as Lula assumes a position in the cabinet, Dilma reaffirmed that Nelson Barbosa, minister of Finance, and Alexandre Tombini, president of the Brazilian Central Bank, are “more in than ever”, referring to the her cabinet, and that there is not a chance of them being replaced. She also emphasized the “commitement” of Lula with fiscal stability and inflation control. <\/p>\n
