São Paulo – The Egyptian company Algawda, manufacturer of switches, sockets and dimmers is planning to enter the Brazilian market. It produces more than 90 million items per year, exports more than 70% of its output and is seeking a distributor in the country.<\/p>\n
“It’s a huge market and we are very competitive, we have quality and price”, says Mohamed Maairgy, exports director, on the company’s interest in Brazil.<\/p>\n
According to him, the main obstacle to the Brazilian market is related to the high costs to operate in the country without a local office. “We need to find someone in this field that wants to be our agent or distributor”, says the executive.<\/p>\n
“We have an extensive product line, with seven main lines and different products, with different colors, qualities and prices”, says Maairgy. According to the Algawda’s director, annual production value by the company reaches around USD 15 to 20 million. <\/p>\n
The company is located in Obour City, 35 km northeast of Cairo. It also has a plant in China and offices in Jordan, Lebanon and Saudi Arabia. <\/p>\n
Saudi Arabia, in fact, is Algawda’s main market abroad. Now the company wishes to expand its business outside the Middle East. “I’ve been to Paraguay, Colombia and Ecuador and I am waiting for the first orders”, says Maairgy.<\/p>\n
In Brazil, Maairgy says that he attended meetings in São Paulo with potential distributors, but that he’s interested in finding an agent also in another city of the country.<\/p>\n
Founded more than 25 years ago, Algawda has 800 employees in Egypt only and another 100 in the other countries it has operations in.<\/p>\n
