São Paulo – Brazil’s vehicle exports went up from January to August of this year. In these eight months, the country shipped 312,396 light vehicles, trucks and buses abroad, an increase of 19.6% over the same period of 2015. The data was released this Tuesday (6) by the National Automakers Association (Anfavea). <\/p>\n
Foreign sales of agricultural and heavy machinery, however, declined 11.7% in the same comparison. From January to August 2016, the country exported 6,039 vehicles of this category, 797 less units than in the first eight months of last year.<\/p>\n
In the comparison between the months of July and August only, Brazil exported 11.8% less fully assembled vehicles with 40,191 units. Meanwhile, foreign sales of agricultural machinery in August were 18.6% higher than in July with 894 units. <\/p>\n
In value, exports of agricultural vehicles and machinery totaled USD 6.70 billion, 5.7% less than the first eight months of 2015.<\/p>\n
In the domestic market, from January to August, Anfavea reported sales of 1.34 million fully assembled vehicles, a decline of 23.1% over last year’s results, which was 1.75 million. Last month, 183,900 units were sold, slightly above the
181,400 units sold in July. <\/p>\n
“August was the best month regarding new vehicle registrations, but it could have been better. The Olympic Games surprised everyone and motivated the country, but had an impact in some businesses during its time, especially in the host city Rio de Janeiro. Even in a lower level, it’s important to point out that we again registered stability in the average daily sales”, said Antonio Megale, Anfavea’s president, in a statement. <\/p>\n
