It was awarded the Cultural Promotion accolade for enabling visitors to journey through Arab culture via gastronomy, music, architecture, dancing, d&eacute;cor, performances, fashion shows and cultural ceremonies. <\/p>\n<p>The prize is offered by ACRio in partnership with Empresa Ol&iacute;mpica Municipal (the Municipal Olympic Company), the Rio de Janeiro State International Relations Undersecretariat, and the Rio de Janeiro City Hall International Relations Coordination Department.<\/p>\n<p>The best hospitality houses won prizes in categories including Legacy, Innovation, Fraternization, Cultural Promotion and Business Promotion. The houses were opened during the Olympic Games by participating countries or by organizations and companies, and them remain open during the ongoing Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n<p><!--[{![cemb_9_711310_2]!}]--><\/p>\n<p>&ldquo;A highlight of the Qatar House was the tents where women could get a henna tattoo, people could get their names written in Arabic calligraphy, and featuring typical garments and meals,&rdquo; the prize&rsquo;s organizers said in a press release, adding that Arab and Brazilian cultures connected in the house, in a restaurant serving dishes by the Brazilian chef Alex Atala. The house was also dubbed Bayt Qatar, which is Arabic for Qatar House.<\/p>\n<p>The winners were announced on Tuesday (13) and the award ceremony was slated for this Wednesday (14), over a luncheon for business executives and a seminar on sports and business. The judges, including City Hall and State officials and ACRio delegates, chose the winners from 34 themed houses that were put together during the Olympics. <\/p>\n<p>Online voters also chose their favorite house &ndash; the NBA House, of the United States basketball league, which won an honorable mention. It feature masters of ceremony, dance performances, interaction with legendary players, tournaments, and the use of technology and social media to engage the crowd. <\/p>\n<p>The Legacy category winner was the International Volleyball Federation House. The prize for Innovation went to the Hungary House.
